Community Groups and Individuals Honoured on International Volunteer Recognition Day

The 6th edition of the HELP Awards highlighted volunteering as a vital service across communities in Ireland.

To mark International Volunteer Recognition Day 2026, the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin hosted the 6th edition of its annual HELP Awards, recognising individuals and organisations dedicated to helping others. The event brought together volunteers, community leaders, human rights advocates and changemakers, while also welcoming past honourees to share their impact.

“The diversity, the integration and the fact that human beings of all walks of life are here under one roof and are being equally acknowledged resonated deeply with me. That’s the Ireland I want to live in,” said previous awardee Frank Allen, playwright, director and former Dublin Prisons teacher, who delivered a keynote address.

This year’s awardees included:

Walk And Talk (Stephen Brennan): Supporting people with mental health challenges, addiction issues and more through a simple but effective “walk and talk” approach.
Kurdish Community of Ireland (Mokthar Moradi): Providing migrant support and strengthening community connections nationwide, rooted in a lifelong commitment to helping others.
Indonesian-Irish Association (Irene Murphy): Promoting inclusion through cultural, social and charitable initiatives that build bridges between communities.
Scoil Rince Ní Áogain (Denise Egan): Encouraging a love of Irish dance while ensuring accessibility and supporting community and charitable causes.
Nicolae Dulea: Advancing cultural, social and charitable initiatives within the Moldova and Romanian communities in Ireland, promoting heritage, diversity and human rights.

Joseph Orgin & Feljose Shristeca: IT specialists contributing to cultural and community initiatives, including Saregama Dublin, while promoting diversity and human rights.
Stefano Bonvini: International musician and composer supporting charitable causes and fostering intercultural and interfaith connections.
Mohammed Rashid (Safco Fine Foods): Providing fresh, nutritious meals to vulnerable individuals, including those experiencing homelessness.
Mass Events Ireland: Supporting cultural, charitable and community events and initiatives across Ireland.
Dr. Mahesh Baj: Recognised for decades of contribution to healthcare, education and community service.
Neera Baj: Honoured for her work in cultural preservation, social welfare and humanitarian initiatives.

Established in 2019 by the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, the HELP Awards celebrate those improving lives through community service.

The awards reflect the wider mission of the Scientology Volunteer Minister programme, created by author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard, through which trained volunteers provide practical support in communities and during crises, addressing social challenges and improving conditions.

The event celebrated the impact of volunteerism and the importance of community action in building a more inclusive and compassionate society.
