DUBLIN, Ireland – To mark World Humanitarian Day, the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin will host a programme on Saturday, 29 August, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, celebrating humanitarian service and introducing practical techniques that anyone can learn to help others.

Observed annually by the United Nations, World Humanitarian Day honours those who assist people affected by conflict, disasters and other crises, while highlighting the importance of community support worldwide.
Reflecting this purpose, presentations on the day will cover humanitarian and community work aiming to inspire guests to volunteer and help people in need. Visitors will also be invited to tour the Scientology Volunteer Minister Exhibition and learn how they have provided practical assistance in everyday situations and during major disasters.
Founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the mid-1970s, the Scientology Volunteer Minister programme is a religious community service initiative dedicated to helping people in everyday life and during times of disaster.
One of the practical tools used by Volunteer Ministers is the Scientology “Assist.” Used to help people following accidents, disasters and other stressful situations, it is a simple technique aiming to address the mental and spiritual aspects of physical discomfort, illness and injury.
As part of the event, a practical workshop will introduce one of the most commonly used Assists. Participants can learn how to deliver such, watch a live demonstration, and have the opportunity to receive one themselves.
Event Programme
- 2:00–2:45pm: Refreshments and guided tours of the Scientology Volunteer Minister Exhibition
- 2:45–3:15pm: Presentations from local humanitarian and community organisations
- 3:15–4:15pm: Practical Assist workshop for aches, pains and physical discomfort
- 4:15–5:00pm: Networking and refreshments
The event is free and open to anyone interested in humanitarian service, community volunteering or learning practical skills that can be used to help others.
